Primary Purpose of Position

Provide speech therapy evaluations and treatment to patients in compliance with the Texas Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology rules and regulations and in compliance with the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) code of ethics.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluates speech and language skills and develop a plan of care and accept and implement recommendations and changes.

• Admits patients into home health services, including reviewing admissions paperwork with patient and obtaining necessary consents.

• Meet productivity levels as assigned by the agency.

• Provides supervision of speech therapy assistants (if applicable) in compliance with state rules and regulations.

• Coordinates treatment with patient’s physician(s), family, office, and other treatment providers.

• Communicates effectively with office staff and coworkers to provide quality care to patients.

• Report suspected child abuse to the agency and to Child Protective Services with 24 hours.

• Adheres to all agency policies and procedures including attending all staff meetings and interdisciplinary case conference meetings.

• Maintains required licensure and certification, including obtaining minimum CEUs required for licensure and certification.

• Function within the professional standards of ethics and conduct of the State Board of Examiners in Speech Pathology and Audiology.

• Maintain a safe driving record (no more than 2 tickets within 3 years and no DUI, DWI, or reckless driving convictions) and a clean criminal record including maintaining automobile liability insurance as required by the State of Texas.


Texas licensure from State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology

Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA. An SLP in the Clinical Fellowship Year will be accepted, provided that person demonstrates good potential as demonstrated by GPA and professional references.

Experience with pediatric patients.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to maintain a professional appearance and attitude.

Ability to be prompt with paperwork, scheduling evaluations and therapy, returning phone calls, responding to emails, etc.

Ability to maintain organization in scheduling and paperwork and able to complete all work required by the agency.

Self-motivated and able to function with minimal supervision.

Communicates effectively and positively with office staff, coworkers, patients and families.
