Primary Purpose of Position

Provide treatment to patients who have problems moving and performing physical activities and help treat problems like injuries, pre-existing conditions and problems caused by illnesses or diseases.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Conducts quality physical therapy assessments.

• Provides quality physical therapy to patients per the patient’s plan of care.

• Provides supervision (if applicable) of physical therapy assistants in compliance with state rules and regulations.

• Coordinates treatment with patient’s physician(s), family, office, and other treatment providers.

• Continuously monitors through observation and consultation patients progress and the effect of intervention and need for continuation, modification, or termination.

• Documents physical therapy services and maintains records in accordance with state guidelines and agency guidelines. 

• Function within the professional standards of ethics and conduct of the Executive Council on Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners.

• Maintains required licensure, including obtaining minimum CEUs required for licensure including maintain automobile liability insurance as required by the State of Texas.

• Attend monthly staff meetings and interdisciplinary case conference meetings. 

• Report suspected child abuse to the agency and to Child Protective Services with 24 hours.

• Adheres to all agency policies and procedures including meeting productivity levels assigned by the agency.

• Maintain a safe driving record (no more than 2 tickets within 3 years and no DUI, DWI, or reckless driving convictions) and a clean criminal record.


Texas licensure from The Executive Council on Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to maintain a professional appearance and attitude.

Ability to be prompt with paperwork, scheduling evaluations and therapy, returning phone calls, responding to emails, etc.

Ability to maintain organization in scheduling and paperwork and able to complete all work required by the agency.

Self-motivated and able to function with minimal supervision.

Communicates effectively and positively with office staff, coworkers, patients and families.
