Primary Purpose of Position
Assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that help restore vocational, homemaking, and daily living skills, as well as general independence, to disabled persons.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides quality occupational therapy to patients per the patient’s plan of care and evaluate patients’ progress and prepare reports that detail progress.

• Test and evaluate patients’ physical and mental abilities and analyze medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for patients.

• Select activities that will help individuals learn work and life-management skills within limits of their mental and physical capabilities.

• Provides supervision (if applicable) of occupational therapy assistants in compliance with state rules and regulations.

• Recommend changes in patients’ work or living environments, consistent with their needs and capabilities.

• Coordinates treatment with patient’s physician(s), family, office, and other treatment providers.

• Maintains required licensure, including obtaining minimum CEUs required for licensure including maintain automobile liability insurance as required by the State of Texas.

• Function within the professional standards of ethics and conduct of the Executive Council on Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners.

• Attend monthly staff meetings and interdisciplinary case conference meetings.

• Report suspected child abuse to the agency and to Child Protective Services with 24 hours.

• Adheres to all agency policies and procedures including meeting productivity levels assigned by the agency.

• Maintain a safe driving record (no more than 2 tickets within 3 years and no DUI, DWI, or reckless driving convictions) and a clean criminal record.
